sangha

Hokoji offers a place to practice alone and to practice with others. To practice alone is the way of the Pratyekabuddha or Arhart, to practice with others is the path of the Bodhisattva. The opportunity to practice together with other sincere way-seekers is a precious opportunity. The circle of community (sangha) is clearly seen when practicing as a group; with familiarity this circle expands to include all sentient beings, the planets, and the entire universe. Joining together in meditation and discussion is an ancient tradition which we continue in this present time. To practice together brings the totality of our existence into the sangha circle and opens into True Nature.
